Sorrel Ginger Drink for Juneteenth

I love sorrel all year round, but since we’re celebrating Juneteenth, Iet’s make this red drink mandatory! I like to add ginger beer for a sparkly kick. You can find sorrel in Caribbean, African, Asian and Latino grocery stores.

Sorrel Ginger Drink

Ingredients

1 gallon water

1 cup dried sorrel flowers

Juice of 1 lemon

2 cups ginger beer

2 cups sugar (or to taste)

In a large container mix sorrel leaves into the water and steep overnight in the refrigerator.

The next day, strain the mixture. Add the lemon juice, ginger beer and sugar to taste.
